Coatings Production & Application Engineer

Role Overview

NEI is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Coatings Engineer to primarily support the manufacturing, quality control, and application of our existing line of paints & coatings. The main focus of this role is to ensure the consistent and high-quality production of liquid functional coatings and the preparation of coated samples for our customers. You will be instrumental in the practical, day-to-day operations required to fulfill customer orders. While formulation experience is a valuable bonus, the immediate priority is operational expertise and technical support for our current products.

Responsibilities

Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) meticulously to efficiently produce liquid coatings in various batch sizes to fulfill customer sample and commercial orders.
Prepare high-quality coated samples and customer parts (low-volume production) using various application techniques, including dip coating, flow coating, and spray coating.
Conduct essential quality checks and performance testing on our paints & coatings, including adhesion, abrasion resistance, contact angle, delta haze, and UV weatherability/durability.
Serve as a primary technical resource, interfacing directly with customers to troubleshoot coating application issues and guide the successful use of our existing products.
Maintain detailed records of all synthesis, formulation, application, and testing procedures.

Qualifications

Proven hands-on experience in the production and application of paints & coatings is essential.
Extensive practical experience in assessing and controlling critical coating properties needed for consistent batch production and application, such as rheology (viscosity control), wetting and dispersion stability, and adhesion assessment
Practical knowledge of coating raw materials and additives relevant to manufacturing (e.g., handling dispersions, utilizing rheology modifiers, and managing production scale-up).
Optional / Bonus Qualification: direct experience in synthesizing and formulating new functional paints & coatings, including knowledge of performance enhancement and material substitution strategies.

Senior Battery Materials Engineer

Role Overview

NEI is an emerging leader in the rechargeable battery industry, developing and supplying innovative materials to leading companies and institutions. We are seeking a highly motivated Materials or Chemical Engineer with a strong understanding of new and emerging battery technologies to help us push the boundaries of what’s possible. This role is a key part of our product development team and involves both fundamental development and direct manufacturing support.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize the manufacturing of cutting-edge battery electrodes, including traditional and next-generation active materials for lithium, sodium, and/or zinc-ion batteries.
Fabricate and test pouch and coin cells to evaluate performance.
Characterize powders, films, and dispersions using standard laboratory equipment.

Key Qualifications

Direct, hands-on experience in battery electrode development, including powder processing, slurry preparation, and coating/film fabrication processes.
Strong knowledge of electrochemistry and Wet or Solid-state Chemistry.
Expertise in using standard laboratory equipment and proficiency in characterizing powders, films, and dispersions.
The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication skills and a detail-oriented, creative mindset.

We’re seeking a full-time remote consultant with a background in materials science or chemical engineering to help expand our portfolio of products and services into adjacent or emerging markets.

This is a strategic and technical role involving:

Market development and opportunity identification
Technical evaluation of new product pathways
Support for contract R&D and government-funded programs
Client engagement and proposal generation

Ideal Background

We welcome candidates with the following:
