NANOMYTE® TC-4001-UVP

Nanocomposite Barrier Coating with UV Protection for Superior Corrosion Protection

1000 Hours Constant UV Exposure: Polycarbonate in QUV Chamber with UVA 340 Lamps @ 0.9 W/m2

NANOMYTE® TC-4001-UVP is a single component formulation with enhanced UV-protective properties designed to protect metals and other surfaces from degrading, preserving their structural integrity and appearance. The hard, dense, and smooth coating is a composite consisting of organic and inorganic phases, and is applied directly to the surface to form a dense barrier that prevents moisture penetration and corrosion. The addition of NEI’s UVP technology helps block UV radiation to protect surfaces from penetration of UV light, thereby preserving the material’s strength, coating adhesion, and appearance.

TC-4001-UVP has also shown to offer protection against damage by short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation. Ultraviolet radiation in the 100nm – 280nm wavelength range (also referred to as UV-C) is used as a means for disinfecting large surfaces by killing or inactivating microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses. The disinfection method is popular in hospitals, as well as high traffic areas such as transit systems, theme parks, cinema theaters, public restrooms, and airports. However, UV radiation causes significant damage to painted surfaces by creating free radicals that then cause polymer degradation. NANOMYTE® TC-4001-UVP shows a remarkable ability to block UV-C, offering protection to coated surfaces against UV-C radiation. All radiation below 350nm is blocked completely by a film that is only 1/5 mil (5 microns) thick.

The transparent coating strongly adheres to bare, pretreated, and painted metal, resisting scratching and chipping. A variety of other surfaces may be coated as well, such as plastics and composites. TC-4001-UVP is easily applied by immersion, spraying or brushing, in thicknesses ranging from microns to mils, and is available in glossy or matte finishes.

Features & Benefits

  • High Performance – Corrosion protection, stain resistance, hard to scratch or chip, water repellant, will not break down in sunlight, anti-fouling
  • Easy Application – Dip, spray, or brush on; most substrates require only one coat
  • Cost Effective – Cost per square foot savings over traditional coatings, labor cost savings, protects the initial substrate investment
  • Environmentally Smart – Low VOCs, no heavy metals, no peeling or flaking into water or soil
  • UV-Resistant – Blocks all forms of UV radiation (UV-A, UV-B, & UV-C) to protect surfaces from the harmful effects of sun and UV exposure.
