Lithium Primary Battery Electrode Sheets

Carbon Monofluoride (CFx) is a unique solid-state intercalation compound formed by the high-temperature reaction of graphite with fluorine gas. In a battery, it serves as a cathode material that offers one of the highest theoretical energy densities available in solid-state primary chemistry. During discharge, the C–F bonds are broken, and the fluorine reacts with lithium ions to form lithium fluoride, while the carbon remains to provide a highly conductive matrix. This chemical stability is what makes CFx stand out; the material is nearly chemically inert at room temperature, which virtually eliminates the self-discharge seen in traditional chemistries.

NANOMYTE® Carbon Monofluoride Electrode Sheets

NANOMYTE® BE-1000E is a cast electrode tape of Carbon Monofluoride (CFx) cathode powder. These cast electrode sheets give researchers and engineers a consistent, ready-to-test format for applications where long-term power delivery is critical. By providing this advanced chemistry as a standard, pre-fabricated tape, we help streamline your cell development and testing process.

Standard electrode sheets are 5 inches x 10 inches (127 mm x 254 mm) and cast either single-sided or double-sided on 16 µm thick aluminum foil current collectors. NEI also offers customization options, such as different active material loadings, electrode composition, binder type, current collector, and more.

NANOMYTE® BE-1000E (CFx)

Our Carbon Monofluoride (CFx) electrode sheets are available in ready-to-use packages of 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 sheets (or more). All electrodes are dried and calendered before they are vacuum-sealed.

  • Composition: 80% CFx, 15% Carbon Black, 5% PVDF
  • Current Collector: Aluminum (16 µm thick, battery-grade)
  • Sheet Size: 5 in x 10 in (127 mm x 254 mm), coated edge-to-edge
  • Standard Areal Capacity: 5.0 mAh/cm2 ± 5% (per side)
  • Nominal Capacity: ≥ 890 mAh/g (at a cutoff voltage of 2V vs Li/Li+)

Precautions for Safe Handling
Appropriate personal protective equipment should be used at all times. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Handle in a dry and well-ventilated area. Avoid actions that abrade, sand, or grind the coated surface, which can release respirable dust.

Conditions for Safe Storage
Store in a cool, dry place. Store sheets flat to prevent flaking or delamination of the coating from the foil substrate.

Note: In its manufactured state, the ingredients of this product are not respirable, therefore this product does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to humans or the environment.
