NAB-30E Product Safety Information (NMO electrodes)
This product is defined as an “Article” under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) and the REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006. In its manufactured and shipped form, it does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to humans or the environment.
Precautions for Safe Handling: Appropriate personal protective equipment should be used at all times. Handle in a dry and well-ventilated area. Avoid creasing and folding, or actions that abrade, sand, or grind the coated surface, as this can cause the coating to delaminate or flake off, creating unnecessary dust.
Conditions for Safe Storage: Store sheets flat and in a dry and well-ventilated place, away from heat and moisture —ideally a desiccator or a dry box.
Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for complete information on the safe handling and storage of this material.

Tunnel-Type NMO (Na0.44MnO2)
Na0.44MnO2, also commonly referred to as Sodium Manganese Oxide (NMO) or tunnel-type NMO (tt-NMO), is a high-performance cathode active material engineered specifically for next-generation sodium-ion battery (SIB) systems and energy storage research. Composed of earth-abundant, non-toxic sodium and manganese, it offers a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to cobalt- and nickel-heavy chemistries for grid-scale energy storage. Characterized by its distinct orthorhombic crystal system (Pbam space group), this non-stoichiometric oxide features a robust three-dimensional framework built from interconnected MnO6 octahedra and MnO5 square pyramids.
Unlike traditional layered transition metal oxides, the rigid crystal matrix of Na0.44MnO2 forms wide, open S-shaped and triangular diffusion tunnels. These spacious 1D channels enable fast, reversible sodium-ion intercalation with minimal volume expansion during charge/discharge cycles, delivering exceptional cycling stability, high rate capability, and strong resistance to phase degradation. Furthermore, its outstanding chemical stability in water makes it a primary candidate for both safe, low-cost aqueous sodium-ion batteries and conventional organic electrolyte systems.
