Activated Carbon Tapes

Electrode Sheets for Lithium-ion Batteries

Activated carbon (AC) is utilized in high-power energy storage systems, such as lithium-ion capacitors and supercapacitors, due to its exceptionally high specific surface area and porous architecture. Unlike graphite, which stores energy through bulk intercalation, activated carbon primarily utilizes electric double-layer capacitance (EDLC), where ions are reversibly adsorbed onto the carbon surface. This surface-dominated mechanism allows for extremely rapid charge and discharge rates and high power density, as it is not limited by the slower diffusion kinetics associated with solid-state intercalation.

To support research into high-rate hybrid systems, we offer ready-to-use activated carbon electrode sheets.

NANOMYTE® Activated Carbon Electrode Sheets

NEI manufactures two variations of Activated Carbon electrodes. NANOMYTE® BE-300E-Cu is cast on 10 µm thick copper foil current collector and BE-300E-Al is cast on 16 µm thick aluminum current collector.

Standard electrode sheets are 5 inches x 10 inches (127 mm x 254 mm) and cast either single-sided or double-sided (as specified). NEI also offers customization options, such as different active material loadings, electrode composition, binder type, current collector, and more.

Product Safety Information:

Precautions for Safe Handling
Appropriate personal protective equipment should be used at all times. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Handle in a well-ventilated area. Avoid creasing and folding, or actions that abrade, sand, or grind the coated surface, as this can cause the coating to delaminate or flake off, creating unnecessary dust. Do not eat or drink in the area where sheets are handled. Wash hands after handling to ensure no conductive carbon particles remain on the skin.

Conditions for Safe Storage
Store sheets flat and in a dry and well-ventilated place, away from heat —ideally a desiccator or a dry box. Exposure to humidity can degrade electrochemical performance.

Note: In its manufactured state, the ingredients of this product are not respirable. Therefore, this product does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to humans or the environment.
