Anode Electrode Sheets for Lithium-ion Batteries
Graphite remains the industry-standard anode material for lithium-ion batteries due to its reliable intercalation chemistry and excellent balance of energy density, power, and cost. Its layered hexagonal structure allows for the reversible insertion of lithium ions (LiC6) with minimal overpotential. While it offers a lower theoretical capacity than materials like silicon, graphite provides a reliable balance of energy density and structural stability over many cycles.
By providing a well-characterized, ready-to-use electrode format, our graphite anode sheets allow researchers to focus on evaluating new electrolytes, separators, or cathode materials against a validated and reliable anode platform.
NANOMYTE® Graphite Electrode Sheets
NEI offers two variations of graphite electrodes: NANOMYTE® BE-200E made with natural graphite and NANOMYTE® BE-250E made with synthetic graphite.
Standard electrode sheets are 5 inches x 10 inches (127 mm x 254 mm) and cast either single-sided or double-sided on 10 µm thick copper foil current collectors. NEI also offers customization options, such as different active material loadings, electrode composition, binder type, current collector, and more.

Product Safety Information:
Precautions for Safe Handling
Appropriate personal protective equipment should be used at all times. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Handle in a well-ventilated area. Avoid creasing and folding, or actions that abrade, sand, or grind the coated surface, as this can cause the coating to delaminate or flake off, creating unnecessary dust. Do not eat or drink in the area where sheets are handled. Wash hands after handling to ensure no conductive carbon particles remain on the skin.
Conditions for Safe Storage
Store sheets flat and in a dry and well-ventilated place, away from heat and moisture —ideally a desiccator or a dry box. Exposure to humidity can degrade electrochemical performance.
Note: In its manufactured state, the ingredients of this product are not respirable and do not pose a physical hazard or health risk to humans or the environment.

Customization Options
Don’t settle for a one-size-fits-all solution! NEI understands that your battery development needs are unique. That’s why we offer extensive customization options for our cathode and anode electrode sheets. For a nominal fee, our electrodes can be custom tailored to your specification, such as:
- Active Material Loading: specify the active loading (mg/cm2) per side
- Areal Capacity: specify the desired areal capacity of the electrode (mAh/cm2) per side
- Electrode Composition: modify the ratio of active material, conductive carbon, and binder
- Binder Type & Content: aqueous/non-aqueous
- Current Collector: Aluminum, copper, carbon paper, graphite foil, titanium, or stainless steel
- Sheet Size: the sheet size can be modified from our standard 5″ x 10″ sheets
- Uncoated Tab Areas: specify the uncoated areas along the length of one or both sides of the sheet
Current Collector Options
While focus is typically placed on the performance of the ‘active’ material, the current collector plays an essential role in electrode functionality. It must remain chemically stable—resisting corrosion and unwanted surface reactions—while ensuring the electrode remains well-adhered through thousands of charge-discharge cycles.
As non-traditional materials and aqueous electrolytes become more prevalent, standard copper and aluminum foils are not always sufficient. Depending on your specific application and active material, substrates such as carbon paper, graphite foil, titanium, or stainless steel may be required. NEI Corporation has developed specialized processes to deposit active materials on a wide variety of alternative current collectors, allowing you to customize your electrodes for optimal performance.
With NEI’s customizable electrode tapes, you have the power to create the perfect lithium-ion battery solution for your unique needs.
*NEI’s spec tolerance is ± 5%; some customization options are subject to availability and will increase the lead time.
