Natural Graphite Powder

Anode Powder for Lithium-ion Batteries

Graphite is a critical component of a lithium-ion cell as it acts as a “sink” for lithium ions that traverse from the cathode and through the separator. Natural graphite (as opposed to synthetic graphite) has been a staple in commercial lithium-ion batteries since their commercial introduction more than three decades ago. This is because the unique layered structure of graphite allows lithium ions to intercalate and form LiC6 and (largely) overcome the plating problem of lithium metal anode. One can expect to get a first discharge capacity of about 370 mAh/g from a commercial natural graphite powder. Reversible capacity in excess of 370 mAh/g has been demonstrated through the formation of compounds such as LiC or Li2C2 and innovations in the electrolyte.

NEI’s premium natural graphite anode powder is a cornerstone for high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Our meticulously sourced and processed graphite offers exceptional electrochemical properties, ensuring optimal energy density, cycle life, and rate capability.

Commercial Graphite Powder

NEI is currently supplying ABP-200, which is a natural graphite anode powder. While NEI doesn’t produce this particular material in-house, you can expect the same quality as our own NANOMYTE® product line. Our graphite also available as a cast electrode sheet (tape / film).
