Lithium Manganese Oxide (“LMO,” LiMn2O4) is a cathode material attracting renewed interest for its unique blend of properties. The spinel crystal structure of LiMn2O4 offers inherent thermal stability, mitigating safety concerns associated with other cathode materials like Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LCO). Furthermore, LMO boasts excellent cycling performance, demonstrating minimal voltage fade and capacity loss during charge-discharge cycles. This translates to extended battery lifespans, a crucial factor for electric vehicles and other demanding applications. Additionally, the abundance of manganese, a key component of LiMn2O4, makes it a cost-effective and resource-friendly alternative to cathode materials reliant on scarcer elements like cobalt. Through advancements in doping strategies and composite electrode design, Lithium Manganate cathode powders hold significant promise for next-generation lithium-ion batteries, prioritizing safety, cyclability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

NANOMYTE® LMO Powders

NEI supplies two Lithium Manganese Oxide cathode powders: NANOMYTE® BE-30 and NANOMYTE® BE-35. The primary difference between these powders is the particle size; BE-30 is 6-7 µm, while BE-35 is 11 µm. NEI’s LMO manufacturing process is versatile and allows modifications to the composition, morphology, and particle size. As a result, the material can be tailored to meet the needs of the specific application. Notably, our lithium manganese oxide materials are also available as cast electrode sheets (tapes / films).
